Rohit Kumar Paudel of Nepal has become the second youngest ODI captain. He is the second youngest captain in the world to captain in One Day International (ODI) cricket. Rohit was only 20 years and 73 days old when he captained Nepal in the first match of the ODI series against UAE on Monday. Rohit was appointed Captain after former captain Sandeep Lamichhane was suspended after being jailed for rape.
Rashid Khan of Afghanistan holds the record of Youngest captain as he captained the team against Scotland in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe in 2018 at the age of 19 years and 165 days. Rohit played 25 ODIs for Nepal and scored 808 runs. He has 1 century and 5 fifties in his name.
Rohit made his List A debut against Namibia in February 2018 and made his ODI debut against the Netherlands in August 2018. Rohit was 15 years and 335 days old when he played against the Netherlands. He also holds the record of the sixth youngest player to play in ODIs.
Rohit is the fourth player after Paras Khadka, Gyanendra Malla, and Sandeep Lamichhane to captain Nepal’s ODI team.
