Defending champions used to play the first match of the Worldcup but it was changed since World Cup 2006 as the host nation was awarded the first match. To continue this tradition, FIFA announced the schedule change for World Cup 2022 on Aug. 11, moving Qatar’s tournament opener a day earlier on Sunday, Nov. 20. Qatar, the host nation will play the first match of the World Cup 2022 against Ecuador. Now, the world cup will starts one day early.
When does the World Cup start?
World Cup will start on November 20 instead of Monday, November 21.
